Drivng about
350 miles from Berlin to Grenzhausen near Koblenz to be part of Manni Stork´s
Vintage Nascar Championship. Christoph and two more guys of the NCB ....... |
.....
in Christoph´s new car. OK it´s not really a Nascar but nevertheless a cool way of driving! |
|||
Two of the totally new constructed NCB Race cars: Junior Johnson´s ´59er Impala Coupé (Fox) ... | ....
and Bob Wellborn´s Convertible (Christoph). Chassis constructed and built from Epoxy by Christoph and Stefan, Bodies built, spray painted and finished by Fox. Even the decals are selfmade and printed by the NCB. |
|||
Due to the really fast Mercedes we reached our aim a couple of hours too early - and went having a pizza first. | At 3 p.m. the Grenzhausen guys opened the track so that we had the chance to rehearse a bit before the race ....
... and we did. | The track is a selfmade 6 lane with a detailed Le Mans-Start ....
.... and much more lovely details like this oldtime tow truck .... | .... and this fantastic Goodyear bridge.
This guy is the boss of the Grenzhausen raceway and took car of rookies like us: Dirk Wolf. | Günther
Martini is not only a fantastic modeler but also a fantastic driver and
a real good waiter. Thanks a lot to both of them for making that race a great event for all of us! |
|||
At Friday night we had a Club race with Group 5 racers. We didn´t have those cars but the Grenzhausen guys simply gave us some to take part at the race. | On Saturday morning we first had to find the right setup for our new built cars.
31 racers brought their Nascars for the race. | Take a look ...
... at the Parc Fermé. | Here´s what everyone desired.
And then the
race began. Some drove.... |
..... some took care of those cars that spun off the track
Others lokked after the book keepers..... | ... or relaxed, waiting for their time to come.
When the Boss talks the others are listening. Manni Stork, the Grandmaster of the German Nascar Championship declares the rules. | The officials were concentrated and cool....
.... and those who paused supported the drivers and the cars ..... | ....enjoyed their meal ....
.... or just discussed the race. | Uwe Hartmann (2nd right) got 5th with a real wing car. His blue Superbird was as fast as hell!
Dirk Wolf - official. | Stefan Radde and Manni Stork inspecting one of the new Chassis.
Fully concentrated even though he´s not really racing at the Moment: Ingolf. | Waiting for their turn.
.Stefan Radde (3rd left) was leader of the pack after the first race. Then he got heavy problems with the spur gear of his car and had to give up the race! | Oliver Stork had good luck and at least one reason to smile ...
... he had a strong race and reached for 2nd place. | Ralf Pistor was also lucky and strong: 3rd place. |
|||
He just got his price for his concours winning entry. Look at his smile. Think he´s happy! | One more time faster than the rest. Grenzhausen 2002 winner Manni Stork.
